The Importance of Music

It has been a while since I have written. And, it has been even longer since I have published on this website, I even lost my domain for it. However, I felt inspired to write today on the importance of music, the most impactful form of art in my life.

Today I felt bored, and a bit of overthinking caused me to realize that music and writing can always bring me out of a funk. So I turned on my record player, and set the needle on Bob Dylan's "Blood On the Tracks."

Not only did his music bring my mood up completely, as most music does for me, it turned my brain back on when it was clouded and filled with mush. Music always seems to clear my head, as I'm sure it does for many others as well. So, I felt the need to write about the importance of this.

Music is endless, surely endless. There is no limit to lyricism, rhythm, or artistry. Every year there is new sounds, trends, and creators that reach to new audiences and ears.

Music will live on forever.

Therefore, it is best to forever talk about music and its impact on us all. No matter the genre, or lack of genre, music stays in our lives. Conversation is music. The sounds of traffic in the city, the sounds of the wilderness, and the sounds of the winds blowing around us, are all music. It cannot be rid of.

This is, at least to me, magical. Unicorns and elves may not be real, but magic can be found through music, which is truly special.

Music causes us to dance. It helps us study, relax, drive, work, and live. I don't believe there is anything else in the world that can have that much power, besides the company of each other of course.

Hearing our favorite songs can make us cry, laugh, and set us through a rollercoaster of emotions and nostalgia. And that is a true wonder.

There really isn't any point of this miniature article, other than the reminder that music is wonderful. A reminder that the world will be healed, even through angry and hateful times. So, go turn on your stereo, bluetooth speaker, phone, or record player, and listen to some of your favorite artists. Let yourself feel peace, at least for a few moments. Escape for a while. Let the music take its course.
