Wonder Woman Review

I saw Wonder Woman very recently, and I was surprised by this movie.  Although I went into this movie thinking that’d it’d be pretty good, I was still surprised by the fact that it was a good DC movie.  I’m mainly surprised because of the really bad DC movies that have come out in the past couple years like Suicide Squad, Batman vs. Superman, and Man of Steel wasn’t too great either.  I think what they did with the Green Lantern movie was horrible, but now I think DC is on the right track with what they’re doing.

Wonder Woman was a pretty standard superhero movie, but that’s what was good about it.  When DC tries to be original, it pretty much goes badly every time.  What they did with Wonder Woman feels pretty cliché, but it didn’t make the movie bad or anything, it just made it a little stale.  They were pretty vague and fast-paced with some of the plot, which isn’t a great thing to do, especially due to the fact that Wonder Woman is one of the most beloved DC superheroes.

It also seemed like DC stole a little bit from Marvel with this movie. They stole humor from Thor, when the superhero is introduced to the rest of the world and doesn’t fit into society and all that.  They also stole from Captain America with the theme of the early 1900’s and the World War theme.  I can’t really say they stole the patriotic theme from Captain America, since both of those characters were created in the comics that way.

I loved seeing Wonder Woman fight in the movie, her fighting scenes were very entertaining.  The movie could’ve had less talking and drama scenes and more fighting scenes, though.

The director Zack Snyder seems to mess up most movies he directs.  He sort of reminds me of Michael Bay, where he has too many explosions, too much slow motion, and a weird glossy look to all of his movies that throws off a lot of the movie for me.  I might even do a comparison between these two directors because of how similar they are in directing style.

Overall, Wonder Woman was a very entertaining superhero movie, but they definitely could’ve done a better job with the film.  DC is doing better now that they’ve made a solid superhero movie after the Dark Knight Trilogy.

Movie Grade: 6.5/10
