Good For You Review
An Album by Amine
Amine is a new rapper and singer that has just come out with his debut album. I think Amine has the most talent out of all the XXL Freshman of 2017, and he really proves me right with this album.
In this review, I’ll be a little more basic, touching on Amine’s talent, songs I liked and didn’t like as much as the others, and the production.
Not only is his rapping super fun and infectious, but he has super smooth and harmonic vocals on this project. He has well written bars that are perfect for the instrumentals he works with. Some of his singing sounds a little strange, but for the most part he’s a great singer. It’s hard to be a good rapper and a good singer, but he definitely pulls it off.
The songs I liked on this album were Veggies, Yellow, Caroline, Hero, Spice Girl, Sundays, Turf, Blinds, Dakota, Money, and Beach Boy. I’m not going to go over every single song I liked, but I’ll say what made these songs good. Songs like Veggies, Hero, Sundays, Turf, and Money are good for their slower tone and old school style. On these songs, you also hear some of Amine’s great vocals, which adds a great flavor of R&B. Songs like Yellow, Caroline, Spice Girl, Blinds, Dakota, and Beach Boy are good because of Amine’s great flow, their great instrumentals, and their upbeat or happy tone.
I basically liked this entire album, but there are some songs that aren’t as good as the others. This happens with songs like STFU, Wedding Crashers, Slide, and Heebiejeebies. STFU has some weird vocals, and a pretty annoying beat. But Amine’s rapping is good on this song. Wedding Crashers is a decent song with a great hook, but it sounds too much like a radio song for me to really like it. Slide is the worst song on this album. The hook is pretty weak, and the beat sounds like something Pitbull would rap to. Heebiejeebies isn’t a bad song, but it’s not great either. The duet between Amine and Kehlani is pretty good and it has a good melody, but I just didn’t think it was as good as the other songs on this album.
The production on this album is phenomenal. I love the mix of old school and new school with the beats, and unlike Lana Del Rey, Amine pulls it off. There are some slow instrumentals, like on Veggies and Sundays. But there are some beats that you could party to, like on the songs Caroline, Spice Girl, and Heebiejeebies. My favorite instrumentals are on the songs Veggies, Caroline, Spice Girl, Sundays, Turf, and Blinds.

Overall this was a pretty impressive debut for Amine. I’m glad he’s finally come out with his first album, and I’m loving it. He has a lot of potential and talent and I hope to hear a lot of his work in the future.
Album Grade: 8/10
