Issa Album Review
An Album By 21 Savage
Issa Album is definitely better than 21 Savage's last project, Savage Mode, but it’s nothing special or amazing. 21 is back with simplistic flows, funny bars, and a soft but scary approach to the mic.
On this album, we hear songs that we’d expect from 21 Savage, then there are songs that were unexpected. Songs like Bank Account, Close My Eyes, and Numb are songs we’d expect from 21 Savage. But there are also songs like Baby Girl, Facetime, and Special, which are not something we’ve heard from 21 before. Him and Amber Rose just started dating each other so he could be inspired by her.
I thought 21 Savage sounded better than he has before, but he still sounds lazy and quiet on this album. He sounds good on the songs Famous, Bank Account, Bad Business, Thug Life, Dead People, Money Convo, and Whole Lot. He sounds lazy on the rest of the tracks, and the hook on the song Numb was pretty weak.
The songs on this album that are four or more minutes can be stale. 21 isn’t the kind of rapper that has long tracks, he’s better when he sticks to two or three minute songs. There are some songs that are long and are still good like Close My Eyes, Thug Life, and Whole Lot.
I’d like to address the songs Facetime and Special now. 21 should not do pop-rap tracks, ever. Facetime is not a terrible song, but it sounds very ordinary, in the sense of the song’s focus and topic. I also don’t think 21 should try to sing. He needs to let rappers like Drake sing, he really shouldn’t attempt it again.
Another song I’d like to go over is 7 Min Freestyle. When I saw this, I did not think it was actually going to be 7 minutes, I don’t know why I thought this due to how the song even says it’s 7 minutes. But, yes, it’s a 7 minute long freestyle. This wasn’t needed at all, and it’s pretty funny to listen to. I’m kind of surprised he was able to freestyle that long. This track had to be made for humor or something because I can’t take it seriously.
My favorite tracks on this album are probably Bank Account, Thug Life, Nothin New, and Whole Lot. These tracks have his best flows, hooks, and the instrumentals on these tracks are fantastic.

21 did a great job on this album being a solo artist. He didn’t have any features on this album, but features could’ve added a lot to this album. Some of these songs are skippable because they seem to be strung out too much, but they could’ve been better with a feature. Rappers like Kodak Black, Quavo, Drake, and Gucci Mane who are known to work with 21 could’ve been on here. It’s great that he can make music without features, but next time around he should have a few in his project.
Issa Album isn’t a bad album, it’s decent. There are too many songs that I don’t really like to give this album a good score, and I also thought some of the production was pretty minimal on here. But, there are a lot of songs that I like to give this album a decent score. 21 did a better job as an artist, and he sounds more clear and has better lyrics and hooks. I think people should give this album a listen, if you like modern rap that is.
Album Grade: 6.5/10
